Liverpool wait for results of Gerrard groin scan

LONDON (Reuters) - Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard had a scan on his troublesome groin on Thursday which could keep him out of Tuesday''s Champions League quarter-final return leg against Chelsea, British media reported.
Gerrard was sent for the scan by Liverpool''s medical staff after he arrived for training on Thursday following the 3-1 home defeat by Chelsea in Wednesday night''s first leg at Anfield.
He had a quiet match marshalled by Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien and rarely exerted his usual influence on proceedings.
Depending on the results of the scan, which are expected on Friday, he could miss Liverpool''s Premier League match against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday and Tuesday''s game at Stamford Bridge.
Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez told reporters after Wednesday''s game that the England midfielder played even though he was not fully fit.
"Steven was not 100 percent, you could see that. It was the same for Fernando Torres, you could see that they were a little tired, not as sharp as before," Benitez said.
"But they have been playing well and we felt it was okay to use them both in this game. We need them."
Gerrard was troubled by the groin problem earlier in the season and it reappeared during last week''s 1-0 win at Fulham.
