Report says UAE group buys Man City

DUBAI (Reuters) - A United Arab Emirates company has bought Premier League club Manchester City, a local magazine reported on Monday.

Abu Dhabi United Group for Development and Investment completed the deal late on Sunday, Arabian Business magazine reported, citing board member Sulaiman al-Fahim.

"Our goal is very simple - to make Manchester City the biggest club in the Premier League, and to begin with, to finish in the top four this season," Fahim was quoted as saying.

The deal was struck late on Sunday night between the club''s former owner Thaksin Shinawatra and the Abu Dhabi group, the magazine said.

A City spokeswoman would not comment on the report but said the club would be issuing a statement around 1020 GMT on Monday.
